An AI agent just proved it can reproduce a full scientific paper in three hours and then use that knowledge to bypass all AI-text detectors.
This research shows that the arms race between AI detectors and generators is effectively over. The AI was able to analyze its own stylistic fingerprint and then systematically rewrite its text to become invisible to detection software. It did this by automating the scientific process of reproduction and refinement in a single afternoon. This makes tools designed to catch AI-written homework or research papers completely obsolete. We can no longer rely on style analysis to distinguish between human and machine writing.
Beating the Style Detector: Three Hours of Agentic Research on the AI-Text Arms Race

Reproducing an empirical NLP study used to take weeks. Given the released data and a modern agentic-research harness, we redo every experiment of a recent ACL\,2026 study on personal-style post-editing of LLM drafts -- and add three new ones -- with the human investigator acting only as a reviewer-in-the-loop. We reproduce all seven preregistered hypotheses and recover the paper's headline correlation between perceived self-similarity and embedding-measured self-similarity to three decimal place
